Back in March Mercedes-AMG revealed the GT 4-Door Coupe which came in three flavours, GT53, GT63 and GT63 S. Now the brand has released an entry level model called the GT43.
Whilst the GT43 uses the same 3,0-litre six-cylinder inline engine as the 320 kW/520 N.m found in the GT53, its detuned to produce 270 kW and 500 N.m. This translates to a claimed 0 – 100 km/h sprint in 4.9 secs ( four tenths slower than the GT53) and a top-speed of 270 km/h (15 km/h less than the GT53)
Just like the GT53 it employs the same Mercedes-Benz’s “EQ Boost” starter-alternator, which delivers additional 16 kW and 250 N.m at brief moments. Power is sent to all four wheels through Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system through a nine-speed automatic transmission.
As far as styling goes its identical to the GT53 with those hideous monoblock wheels which actually suites the older generation Mercs.
Though pricing for South Africa has not been confirmed, it is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2019.
